Effects of inorganic salts on the copolymerization of vinyl and allyl monomers part.Ill copolymerization of acrylonitrile and allyl alcohol in the presence of some inorganic salts

The thermal copolymerization of acrylonitrile and allyl alcohol in the presence of oomplexing agents like HgCI2, erCI3, ZnCI2 and CdCI2 is investigated. Accelerating effects of complexing agents were observed. The complexation in the case of AN takes place through nitrile group whereas in the case of ·allyl alcohol the complex formation occurs on allylic group. of the monomer. The inorganic salts act as chain transfer agent and do not appreciably change the reactivity ratios values of the monomers. The copolymerization mechanisam is also discussed.read more

SOme New Pyridyl-Substituted Pyrazine for Copper

The new euproin ligands 2-(2-pyridyl)-3,5,6-triphenyl-S, 6-dihydropyrazine and 2(2-pyridyl)-e,S ,6-triphenylpyrazine closely related to 2,2-bipyridine and 1,1 O-phenanthroline have been synthesized by sintple synthetic routine. The ligands react with copper(l) to fonn coloured complexes, which are easily extractable in water-immiscible organic solvents. The molar absorptivities are also reported.read more

Synthesis of Some Newer-4 (3H)-Quinazolinones as Antomicrobial Agent

Twenty eight quinazolinones, incorporating the moieties of N-[4- (aryloxy) J phenyl ureas, and l-ehloroacetyl-3-[ 4-(aryloxy) J phenyl ureas have been synthesised and evaluated for their antibacterial and antifungal properties. Some of them showed significant inhibition.read more

Spectroscopic Studies on Effect of Cationic Charge on Cryptate Formation

1:1 inclusive complexes ofcryptand (2:2:2)with Na +, Ca+2, and La +3 metal ions were prepared using dry acetonitrile in the presence of triethyl ortho-formate. Vibrational and nmr spectra were examined to see the effects of cationic charge on cryptate formation. read more

Long-Range-Spin Coupling in BHenzo [b] Thiopenes, Benzo [b] Furans and Quinolines

Proton NMR spectra of ethyl acetate derivatives of benzo[b) thiophenes, benzo[b) furans and quinolines show that there is a strong long range coupling between H3 and H7 (51). The coupling magnitude in benzo[b)thio~henes and benzo[b)furans was 0.73 ± 0.1 Hz. The observed coupling values between H4 and Hg ( J) H2 and h7 (6J) in quinolines were 0.73 ± 0.1 and 0.36 ± 0.1 . Hz respectively. Long range spin-spin coupling of ca. 0.73 ± 0.1 Hz over four bonds between ring proton and adjacent methine proton of ethylacetate group is observed for a wide variety of the title compounds.read more

Homolytic Arylation by Polyhalogenoaromatic Radicals

2.3,4.5,6-Pentabromobiphenyl has been prepared by the decompositon of pentabromoaniline by pentyl nitrite in benzene at 800• and by the U1hnann reaction between iodobenzene, pentabromoiodobenzene and copper powder. The yield of the biaryl formed from the thomolytic aryIation of benzene decreases as O-bromoaniline. 2.4,5-tribromoaniline. or pentabromoaniline is the source of the attacking radical. This decrease is paralleled by an increase in the yield of the benzene derivative arising from the formal protiodeamination of the parent aniline derivative.read more
